Safeguard Your Account & Personal Information

Studies show most identity theft actually occurs when theives obtain information by digging through trash cans or stealing from mailboxes, but it is always good to be careful when conducting business online as well. Online banking can protect you from many types of fraud and you can reduce the risk even more effectively by taking additional precautionary measures. To assist in your safety:

  • Monitor your accounts, debit transactions, and credit card activity regularly. Finding unauthorized activity early might be your most valuable tool
  • Change online passwords frequently. Never create passwords based on common information such as a birthday or phone number. Choose strong passwords, using upper & lower case letters, numbers, and characters. And avoid sharing your password with others
  • Never respond to an e-mail purporting to be from GaPac. We never request account or password information by email
  • Make sure the site you intend to visit is secure. Legitimate web pages always begin with "https" and display a padlock on the browser frame. This is located at the top of every page, not within the page
  • Never share personal account information in e-mails. The exception is secured or encrypted e-mail available through GaPac's designated service. A notice will always accompany these available services
  • Of course, it is always wise to install a personal firewall and antivirus software and keep it updated. Most certificates are designed to be renewed annually
